“Into The Dark equals Wonderful Value For The Money”

Beautiful publication, documenting the most notable films in the genre of film noir from 1941 – 1950. Sturdy hardcover full of great glossy photos and blurbs from theater owners, critics, along with the artists. Really a coffee table companion for watching or exploring the book isnt really a reader, movies, per say. However, it is nonetheless and among the books on the subject of film noir which has been printed. The issue is the quitting point: 1950. They left out many very, very important films such as Kubricks The Killing, The Big Combo, Welles Touch of Evil, etc.. Will there be a sequel ? Since there really should be. WE DEMAND INTO THE DARK: PART 2!

If you are a fan of movie history and you like beautiful photgraphic images, this book is essential for your group. Im astounded by the sheer variety of amazingly produced photographs of the two portraits and scenes from a favorite period in Hollywood film making, Film Noir. Vieira is a favorite writer of mine as a consequence of his archival fashion of conveying the essence of the period hes portraying. “… Takes You Into The World Of A Few Of The Best Classic Films”

Into the Dark is a lavish publication about Film Noir which takes you into the world of some of the best classic films. These films have become timeless. Likely the first I watched as a kid was the Spiral Staircase which scared the wits out of me, but I loved it. This book will take you back into a few of the very best, such as Gilda, aside from the opinions and insights of the time, the bandw photos of Rita Hayworth are unbelievable. The Blue Bahlia can be featured, Mildred Pierce, Leave Her to Heaven, Citizen Kane, Laura and so many more. The photos alone are worth the price, then the insight from a recap of this film and media reports of this era all flesh out these movies which held up spellbound. Fun read.

“Worth The Cost, Well composed, Great Photos. ”

I bought this book for my mother, she’d seen it advertised on TCM. The publication is obviously 40 dollars and well worth the money too. Nice hardbound book with a lot of great tidbits on Film Noir movies from this era as well as the pictures from the publication are done. I managed to snag this gem up for 24 bucks and it’s been worth the money.Great bit for anybody that’s into movies of the age or searching for a great addition to their own library of books about film and the stories behind some of the classics of a sometimes forgotten age.
